My Books for the Summer Reading Challenge

There's still time to join the reading challenge before it starts this Saturday.

The story behind it:
So many years ago, (maybe five) I was invited to join a summer reading challenge, which I loved so much that I was always looking for someone to do it again or something like it.

When I didn't find any I decided to look into it and discovered that the original blog that first hosted it no longer exists, like click on the link and get weird car ads, non-existing. I thought maybe the blogger (her name is Kate) just decided to change blogs but nope. If she did I didn't find any trails leading to her.

Song of the Moment [5/30]

Songs of the Moment is a bi-monthly feature I started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.

I hate that I haven't really done anything this month. And like always I am not looking forward to the summer months. Especially since this year I've been super fragile.
I'm always saying things are going to be different but then don't really do anything to change the,. Though I have made progress this month.

The Handy Men by Jamie K. Schmidt - Book Review

34741847The Handy Men by Jamie K. Schmidt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Published May 1st 2017 by Entangled Publishing LLC

Jack and Dean love each other, but they’re missing the woman to complete their triangle. When newly divorced Paige Richards buys a Bed and Breakfast on Hamlet Island and employs them to help her fix the inn up, Jack and Dean are sure they’ve found the one they’ve been looking for. Despite the playful, sexy clues they drop, luscious Paige is reticent about getting involved, even when they set the stage so she can stumble on them in action. They can tell by her responses she wants to join them, but rumors travel fast on the small island, and tales of a threesome could get back to the conservative, family vacation crowd who won’t patronize those with an alternative lifestyle. And the last thing they want for Paige is the B&B’s rooms…and her bank account…to remain empty. But Jack and Dean will stop at nothing to prove to Paige that she can have it all…with them.

It's Monday! What Are you Reading?

It's been a month since I decided that this would be my last year blogging. And while at the time I was probably thinking I'd be going out with a bang, in the weeks since I've been thinking why even go on. I feel like I already threw in the towel, like why bother continuing if I already decided that my time here would be ending.
Most likely culprit for this mood: for some reason last month I stopped scheduling everything. Back in September I tried to take up bullet journaling and while I'm not too crazy about how I'm doing it, (mainly because I don't feel like I have so many reasons to be doing it) I was pretty into the idea and was maybe hoping to grow with it.
But at some point last month I just stopped, which is too bad because a lot should have been written down. And as much as I wanted to start up again this month I couldn't get back in the habit.
Fingers crossed for June.

And fingers crossed that I get back in the writing mood too, because I am not done here. Yet.

Stacking the Shelves [5/13]

As I mentioned in my post last month, I was returning to the book fest world. And needed books for YALLWEST. A lot of them. Though my main goal for all this was to get a tote bag signed.
Which I did!

A Million Junes by Emily Henry - Book Review

30763950A Million Junes by Emily Henry
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Published: May 16th 2017 by Razorbill

Romeo and Juliet meets One Hundred Years of Solitude in Emily Henry's brilliant follow-up to The Love That Split the World, about the daughter and son of two long-feuding families who fall in love while trying to uncover the truth about the strange magic and harrowing curse that has plagued their bloodlines for generations.

In their hometown of Five Fingers, Michigan, the O'Donnells and the Angerts have mythic legacies. But for all the tall tales they weave, both founding families are tight-lipped about what caused the century-old rift between them, except to say it began with a cherry tree.

Eighteen-year-old Jack “June” O’Donnell doesn't need a better reason than that. She's an O'Donnell to her core, just like her late father was, and O'Donnells stay away from Angerts. Period.

But when Saul Angert, the son of June's father's mortal enemy, returns to town after three mysterious years away, June can't seem to avoid him. Soon the unthinkable happens: She finds she doesn't exactly hate the gruff, sarcastic boy she was born to loathe.

Saul’s arrival sparks a chain reaction, and as the magic, ghosts, and coywolves of Five Fingers conspire to reveal the truth about the dark moment that started the feud, June must question everything she knows about her family and the father she adored. And she must decide whether it's finally time for her—and all of the O'Donnells before her—to let go.
